May 21, 2009 by Helen

There are many romantic places in the world, but to fall in love I would definitely chose Italy!

.

Italy is often considered to be The Mecca of lovers and it boasts a numerous romantic places. Italy itself is synonymous to romance and has a tradition of higher love and romance. With such a reputation, romantic places in Italy are the dream honeymoon destination for many couples or nice route of getaway for those  who want to fall in Love… to fall in love with a person or with Italy itself!gondole-venezia-13

Romance is filled in every look and corner of the Italian peninsula. Its very location, with the Alps, Dolomite and the Seas surrounding it makes it one of the most beautiful countries of the world. The beautiful landscape is teemed up with the old town charm which has a language of its own. This romantic evocative ambiance is what Italy truly is. Some of the most romantic places in Italy include:

.

Venice

The floating jewel of Italy is perhaps a perfect incarnation of romance. One of the most romantic places in Italy ,Venice has its own distinct charm and a romantic tale to tell, which is timeless. The Romantic appeal of a Gondola ride under the moonlit sky is perhaps unique to Venice, one of the most appealing places in Italy.

.

Rome

Of all the romantic places in Italy Rome has a different kind of charisma. Not just its natural beauty, the antiquity of the place has a romantic feel that is beyond description. The eternal city, Rome has winding lanes and the ruins of the glamorous and prosperous Renaissance Rome can actually take you back to the medieval era.

.

The Amalfi and Capri coast is sea side honeymoon destination and definitely one of the most romantic places in Italy . With slow rhythmic life this romantic and stylish has been a favorite since the ancient times.

.

There are limitless possibilities to spend time with flavor of romance, so it is up to you to decide where to go and what to do, but the only tip I can give: ”…Italy!”

Explore Europe:Prague!

May 15, 2009 by Helen

prague02Opened to the West after 1989’s Velvet Revolution, Prague is a breathtakingly beautiful city. The center, a UNESCOdesignated World Heritage Site, boasts a fairytale castle, plus a profusion of golden spires, Gothic churches and Baroque and Renaissance buildings that contrast with an abundance of cubist and ultramodern architecture from the city’s more recent past.

The legacy of 14th-century Charles IV lives. Charles University and the Charles Bridge were built during his reign. Today the Charles Bridge fills to capacity with tourists and the wonderful spectacle of the artists and musicians who make a living from entertaining them.

The city, once home to Dvorak, Kafka and Ivana Trump, boasts hundreds of concert halls, museums, galleries, movie theaters and music clubs, including the gorgeous National Theatre, Estates Theatre and State Opera. Prague’s compact core, and its efficient and inexpensive transportation system, make discovering this magical city’s charms a breeze year-round, even through cold winters or the often rainy days of summer.prague2063

Wedding Dress of Your Dream. Part 2.

March 11, 2009 by Redcat

wedding_dress_dinner_dress_bride_maid_dress

The most important part is to know which type of silhouette will flatter your figure the best. Look at photos of each type. Pay attention to photos of real women wearing gowns, rather than relying on professional photos of models wearing them. You should aim to try on an example of each shape to get an idea of what you like. Have a think about what you consider to be your best and worst features, the perfect dress will disguise or draw attention from your least favorite parts and highlight all the best bits.
The shape of your skirt will have a strong influence on the whole look of your outfit on the day. Whatever you choose should make you feel gorgeous but should also be comfortable.
1. The ball gown shape may be a full tulle skirt in a ballerina style, or a heavy or structured fabric. This kind of skirt suits many figures and can disguise a pear shape, but be aware that on a fuller-figured woman this style of dress can emphasizes the bride’s size rather than flatter her best features. For a very short and small bride it may be overwhelming to her small frame.
2. A-lines are not as full as ball gowns. A-line dresses usually have vertical seams that run from the top of the dress all the way to the bottom, with no seams coming across the dress at the waistline. This style is flattering to most brides, particularly those that are pear-shaped or fuller-figured. A-line wedding dresses are also flattering on petite women. As we stated earlier, this style lengthens the body.
3. Sheaths flatter women with slim, balanced figures. This gown will not hide any flaws.
4. An empire line dress waist gowns have a skirt that falls from just below the breasts. This style has a seam just underneath the bust and then falls away to the floor; it usually suits smaller-busted, slim women. It is a wonderful choice for a casual, non-formal wedding, or weddings in a tropical climate.
5. A column dress has a sleek modern line that is usually quite figure-hugging. These usually suit slimmer brides and those that are tall. Petite brides can also try this style on.
6. A fishtail dress is similar to a column dress but will usually put more emphasis on the bride’s curves. This style is often cut on the bias, and is quite figure-hugging until after the knee when it flares out.
You could choose a dress with sleeves, alternatively a sleeveless dress but cover your arms with a jacket, shrug or wrap.

1. Strapless outfits are very popular and may be straight across at the bust or may have a sweetheart shape. They suit most brides. Off-the-shoulder gowns look wonderful on a full bust, especially if pared with a narrow skirt. It draws our attention upward, emphasizes the shoulders and minimizes the chest. Pared with an A-line skirt strapless outfit looks great on the bottom-heavy bride. A corset-style bodice with lacing highlights upper body. However petite women should be careful with strapless gowns, because they may have to lift their arms to reach up to their new husbands.
2. Low round or scooped necks will suit most brides. It will not detract from a pretty face.
3. A halter neck looks best on a bride with great shoulders, but may look unbalanced on a woman with a large bust.
4. Queen Anne, or sweetheart necklines have a heart-shaped line at the bust and are great if you want to discreetly display a bit of cleavage.
5. A V-neck can draw attention from a large bust.
6. A high round neck or slash-neck dress will look best on a bride with a small bust and both are good if the bride doesn’t wish to show too much of her chest.
7. Square necklines will suit most brides
8. Asymmetric necklines, where the dress has a single strap or irregular shaping are becoming more popular.
After choosing dress, you should select gloves, bridal veil, and bijouterie.
Decide whether you want to wear a veil, tiara, jewelers or flowers in your hair. Veils come in different types and lengths and may have one, two or more layers. Tiaras come in a variety of colors and shapes, from small ones designed to sit just in front of the veil, to large and colorful crowns. Choose the best type of flowers that won’t start to wilt after an hour or two.
Just remember that in the end, it’s your wedding, and you can do what you want. You have to feel beautiful in this dress and remember it really doesn’t matter what style of wedding dress is in style currently. If you feel beautiful in it you will shine on the day.

Wedding Dress of Your Dream. Part 1.

March 6, 2009 by Redcat

glamour-wedding-gown1

One of the most exciting parts of your planning is deciding what you will wear on the big day. Your wedding is one of the most thrilling and touching moments in the life of any girl. We all want this day to be special and unique, nice and unforgettable, and very often we do believe that choosing a wedding dress is as easy.
Almost all wedding dresses are charming and beautiful and as a rule it is really challenging to choose the right dress that will look great. This article will help you choose the right wedding dress style for your own body shape and for your own special ceremony.
1. First of all, envision your wedding day and how your dress looks, and jot down a list of things that describe the dress of your daydreams. Every girl in her imagination has her future wedding dress. So, to find it in store, she needs month or two. And, what is why, our first advice – start to search your wedding dress beforehand.
2. Think about the ceremony you are going to have in order to buy a dress in appropriate style. Is it a very grand affair in a huge cathedral, a sophisticated evening event with a civil ceremony, a simple church wedding, a beach wedding in the tropics or a funky day in a modern hotel?
3. Choose a proper fabric. If you’re getting married in the winter, you may not want to be a very light, thin fabric unless you plan to be inside the entire time. If you’re having a beach wedding in the middle of July, you may not want to wear a heavy fabric like duchess satin.
4. You may also want to bear in mind how wearable a fabric is; you will be sitting and standing in it all day and you want it to look at its best in all of the photos. Try scrunching an inconspicuous area of the fabric in your hand to see how easy it is to crease.
5. Pick the color you feel most beautiful in. Before white became popular, the bride would simply wear her best dress and color was a matter of preference. Many women choose dress colors that best complement their skin tones, ranging from diamond white to ivory to champagne to actual colors (pink, blue, red). Several designers have included things like bright colored patterns on the bodice or skirt.
6. Search in internet weddings catalogue. Many shops have a website, and it is a good idea to have a look at that before you go as it should give you a list of the different designers stocked by the store and some idea of the prices. It helps to save your time.
7. Before you hit the shops it is also worth talking to your fiancé about what he likes and dislikes. As well as looking wonderful for yourself, you also want your husband-to-be to love the way you look.
8. Take a friend or a family member whom you trust with you. But don’t take more, than two people. They might never agree on the same dress, and you might end up confused and frustrated.
9. If you live in town go round all studious, but in cities concentrate of some which you choose in previous steps.
10. It is a good idea to wear a well-fitting bra, and take a good strapless one with you too for the different styles of dresses. It is also a good idea to wear nice pants that you don’t mind being seen in, as the assistant will come in to the changing room with you to help you in and out of the different frocks – this can be embarrassing if you are just in a thong, or a pair of elderly knickers that have seen better days.
11. If you are in bad mood move your trip. You should buy wedding dress only in high spirit!
12. Don’t buy your wedding dress in rush. Choose more 2-3 days to go other atelier and try to find the dress of your dream.
13. Remember, choosing a dress that is the height of fashion now may quickly look dated in your wedding photos.
14. Avoid being talked into buying a dress that costs more than you can afford. Set off with a budget in mind so you don’t accidentally try on and fall in love with a designer number that completely breaks the bank.
15. Another cheaper option to consider is renting a dress. This can be a far more affordable way to get you a fantastic dress (for the day). The other bonus does not have to clean, store, or ever deal with it again.

How to Choose the Best Birthday Present

January 27, 2009 by Redcat

Every celebration is a special event. Every time we are looking for the best dress, hair and makeup. Often the most difficult task is to choose birthday gift. The special thing about birthdays is that they only come once a year. The challenging thing about birthdays is that they can be time consuming and expensive. So let’s learn how to choose a birthday present without loosing our precious time and money.

Know the person. In order to choose the right birthday gift, you really need to know the person that will be celebrating. The longer you know someone the more you know about that person. This is vital for choosing the perfect birthday gift for him or her. Since we are talking about birthday gifts, we have to consider the age of the person as well. We obviously want to give a gift that is age appropriate.

Not every person has the same tastes. Some people may love wine and gourmet cheeses, while others enjoy beer and sloppy cheeseburgers. Unless you know that, you’re really guessing. Try to get an idea of the kind of things they like and what they do in their everyday lives in order to know what they would probably like as a birthday gift. This is a great way to narrow down the gift selection.

What person don’t like. Also knowing what they don’t like can be a great start. If they love dogs, it’s useless to buy them a toy cat. If they are allergic to cheese, it wouldn’t be nice to give them some cheddar cheese as a gift. Make sure your friends won’t be unhappy with your gift. For instance, if your friend is a of a particular nationality, and you give him/her a joke book on that nationality, he or she probably won’t like it very much.

What person do like. Before creating gift ideas check the following things about a person. Married or single, with or without children, has or has no pets, extreme sports or relaxing hobbies, noisy parties or family evenings. Once you know what the person actually likes, you can then start planning what gift they will truly appreciate. A good idea is to choose a birthday gift that will enhance one of their hobbies or favourite activities that reflects their personality.

Make a budget. The older and closer you are to a person that will be celebrating, the more expensive should be a gift. That doesn’t mean that you have to buy your close friend a car. It means that if you aren’t that good friends, you don’t need to buy him/her such a costly present.

Sometimes you cannot spend a lot on presents. Either your budget isn’t that big or all your friends were born at the same month. The following tips will help you to come up with a great gift and at the same time to save money.
· Fortunately, today discount stores have a variety of brand name items, from colognes and perfumes, to ties and cufflinks. A small brand name gift is always nice.
· Remember that many popular stores have outlets that sell items well beneath the retail prices.
· Paperback books are always less expensive than hardcover books. The best choice is a book by the person’s favourite author or by the person’s favourite genre.
· Scented or unscented pre-wrapped votive candles and one votive candle holder placed in a gift bag become a great birthday present. Get creative by choosing different fragrances.
· Favourite candies, balloons and flowers are good additions to any present. They make people smile and think about happy moments.

Wrap your present. The wrapping creates the first impression about you and your present. It should match the present that is inside. It is a kind of art. So be an artist and make it as unique as attractive.

Include a card. The goal of a card is to inform who is a giver and to make present more personal. Choose a nice card and write down several pleasant words about how much you appreciate your friend. As an alternative you may choose a funny card. They always put a smile on your friend’s face. Another safe bet is choosing a birthday card that makes noise or plays music. But don’t forget to write down several words from your heart. Sometimes cards are more meaningful than the actual gift.

Be careful and don’t forget about your friend’s interests, because people do try to buy others what they would like, instead of what the person likes. As long as you are concentrating on the receiver and not ‘just’ the gift itself, you can’t go far wrong. Good luck!

As usual, each year we are trying to invent something special and funny for the NY party. This year the idea is to show the versatility of habits around the world. Again, as usual, my task was to find some special ways of saying farewell to the past year and welcoming the new one. I must say I found a lot of very unusual habits :) I’d like to share some funny ones with you :)

Look forward to more ;)

1. Baby New Year Tradition
The tradition of using a baby to signify the New Year was started around 600 B.C by the ancient Greeks, who, at the start of a year would carry a baby around in a basket. The purpose of it was to honor Dionysus, the God of Fertility and symbolize his annual rebirth.

2. Hogmanay
The New Year in Scotland is called Hogmanay. The people in Scotland follow a ritual that appears nutty but actually has a great significance. One can find barrels of tar set afire and gradually rolled down the streets in the villages of Scotland. This ritual symbolizes that the old year is burned up and New Year is going to begin.

3. Burning “Mr. Old Year”
In Columbia, Cuba and Puerto Rico families stuff a life-size male doll with things and then they dress it up in old clothes from each family member. At the stroke of midnight, this ‘Mr. Old Year’ is set on fire. This is done with the simple belief that a doll thus stuffed have bad memories or sadness associated with them, and that the burning of these will help one to do away with all past grief’s and usher in happiness in life with the coming year.

4. Eating Noodles
Late on the evening of December 3 1, people of Japan would eat a bowl of buckwheat noodles called “toshikoshisoba” (“year-crossing noodles”) and listen for the sound of the Buddhist temple bells, which were rung 108 times at midnight. The sound of these bells is said to purify the listeners of the 108 sins or evil passions that plague every human being.

5. Eating 12 Grapes
In Spain people eat 12 grapes as the clock strikes midnight (one each time the clock chimes) on New Year’s Eve. This peculiar ritual originated in the twentieth century when freak weather conditions resulted in an unseasonable bumper harvest of grapes. Not able to decide what to do about so many grapes at Christmas time, the King of Spain and the grape growers came up with the idea of the New Year ritual.

6. Gifts in Shoes
In Greece children leave their shoes by the fireside on New Year’s Day (also the Festival of Saint Basil in Greece) with the hope that Saint Basil, who was famous for his kindness, will come and fill their shoes with gifts.

7. Carrying a Suitcase
In Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, and Mexico, those with hopes of traveling in the New Year carry a suitcase around the house at midnight. Some even carry it around the block to ensure traveling at greater distances.

8. Burning Crackers
The people in China believe that there are evil spirits that roam the earth. So on New Year they burn crackers to scare the evil spirits. The doors and windows of every home in china can be seen sealed with paper. This is to keep the evil demons out.

9. Times Square Celebrations
The first Ball Lowering celebration atop One Times Square was held on December 31, 1907 and is now a worldwide symbol of the turn of the New Year, seen via satellite by more than one billion people each year. The original New Year’s Eve Ball weighed 700 pounds and was 5 feet in diameter. It was made of iron and wood and was decorated with 100 25-watt light bulbs.

10. Foods
It was thought that one could affect the luck they would have throughout the coming year by what they did or ate on the first day of the year. It is still held in some regions that special New Year foods are the harbingers of luck. For that reason, the Dutch believe that eating donuts on New Year’s Day will bring good fortune. The hog, and its meat, is considered lucky because it symbolizes prosperity. Cabbage is another “good luck” vegetable that is consumed on New Year’s Day by many. Cabbage leaves are also considered a sign of prosperity, being representative of paper currency. In some regions, rice is a lucky food that is eaten on New Year’s Day. The ancient Persians gave New Year’s gifts of eggs, which symbolized productiveness.

11. Black-eyed peas
Many parts of the U.S. celebrate the new year by consuming black-eyed peas. These legumes are typically accompanied by either hog jowls or ham. Black-eyed peas and other legumes have been considered good luck in many cultures.

12. Rings
Many cultures believe that anything in the shape of a ring is good luck, because it symbolizes “coming full circle,” completing a year’s cycle.

13. Wearing new slippers
In China, many people wear in the new year a new pair of slippers that is bought before the new year, because it means to step on the people who gossip about you.

14. Sealed doors & windows
During new year , the doors and windows of every home in china can be seen sealed with paper. The Chinese think that this will succeed in keep the evil demons out.

15. Jewish New Year
The Jewish New Year is called Rosh Hashanah. It is a holy time when Jews recall the things they have done wrong in the past, and then promise to do better in the future. Special services are held in the synagogues, children are given new clothes and New Year loaves are baked to remind people of harvest time.

16. Japanese New Year
On New Year’s Day in Japan, everyone gets dressed in their new clothes. Homes are decorated with pine branches and bamboo, both of which are considered to be the symbols of long life.

17. American resolutions
40 to 45% of American adults make one or more New Year’s resolutions each year. And these range from debt reduction to giving up bad habits to what not? But the ones that are the most common deal with weight loss to exercise to giving up smoking.
