Indulge Your Skin With Ultasonic Peel!

June 16, 2009 by Katerina

ultrasonic peelingSkin cleansing with an ultrasonic waves combines benefits of peeling itself, together with gentle massage at sub-cellular level. In general you have to spend less than one hour to get clean, moistened and smooth skin. Being non-invasive, ultrasonic peeling doesn’t irritate the skin, so you can undergo it in cold winter or even hot summer without fear to get pigmentation. It is also harmless for any type of skin even if you have the sensitive one.

This kind of face peel has exfoliating effect, moving away dead skin cells and cleaning your pores from excess sebum and dirt without any pain or redness. As ultrasonic treatment kills bacteria it will be useful in pimples treating and skin imperfection removing.

Ultrasonic waves also warm your tissue and face muscles, giving you relaxing massage which helps creams and face lotions to penetrate and act deep into the skin. Moreover, ultrasonic treatment you get during peeling procedure, promotes production of collagen, therefore makes your skin more youthful and helps you to smooth the fine wrinkles.

Usually ultrasonic cleansing consists of the following steps:

Safe Tan – Is It Possible?

June 10, 2009 by Katerina

tanningRegardless lots of information on the dangers of tanning, we still try to get the ‘perfect tan’.

A tan is actually a sign of skin damage caused by sun and a defensive attempt to protect itself from further harm, even though many people mistakenly believe tan signifies health and beauty. So is there any way to have a safe tan?
Skin cancer experts tend to state that there is no such thing as a safe tan. So let’s examine sun tanning and its alternatives.

Sun tanning
Tans and skin cancer both begin with DNA damage caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation in sunlight. Its really worth noticing, that ultraviolet radiation conduces to premature ageing of the skin.
Two types of ultraviolet rays, UVA and UVB, negatively affect the scin.
UVA rays tends to cause skin cancer after prolonged periods of time. UVB rays cause sunburn and the redness, which are also a strong risk factor for skin cancer.

Salon tan
Using a solarium is not a safe way to tan as well. Solariums offer enclosed beds, which contain light tubes emitting UVA and UVB radiation. Please remember, that UV radiation from a solarium can be four-five times as strong as the midday summer sun.
There is a recommended time that one should not exceed within a year when using a tanning bed. According to the deramatologists one should not surpass more than 10 hours of exposure per year.

Wash-off tanners
This is the simplest way to create an instant tan on your face and body. You have to smooth on the cream over your body and then wash it away at the end of the day.
Bronzing powders
Use powders on your face in the same way as a blusher.
Self tanners
Self-tanning products come in several forms, such as lotions, wipes, gels, sprays.. They stimulate the skin pigment to change without any harmful exposure to the sun, which is actually a positive preventive alternative to sunlight.
All of these tanning products have ingredient dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is absorbed by the surface skin cells and turns brown in the presence of oxygen. This process usually takes several hours hours, and the effects from a few days up to a week.
If you decide to use self tanners, be aware of following rules:

How to look taller…

June 9, 2009 by Helen

Some people have psychological problem to consider themselves not tall enough. And they do wish they can become taller! But there always are some techniques that can help you look taller visually instead of really becoming taller, that is possible either though rather complicated. A good example can be Eva Longoria Parker, being  1.57 m tall, Eva does manage to look fabulous! That proves that by by wisely organizing visual elements of clothes, their design, your hairstyle and even accessories you can change the way your body is perceived to the better and make yourself look taller. Here you can see some our tips are…

.

Posture

eva20longoria2020screening20of20phoebe20in20wonderland20in20beverly20hills2_49abff6fc03445Good posture provides not only physical but also psychological benefits. It is an important component for back health and height increase. Good posture helps increase your height not just because of the obvious reason that you are sitting and standing strait rather than slouching and slumping, but for other structural and physiological reasons as well.

You can correct posture by ensuring that you always sit with your back against a chair’s support and being conscious of the fact that you will need to keep a correct posture at all times.

Good standing posture is achieved by leaning against a wall. Keep your head, shoulder blades, buttocks and heels in contact with the wall.At the same time, use your muscles to pull back your neck, waist and knees to minimize the space between your body and the wall. There should be only slight gaps. This will help you to walk and seat straight and will provide the impression that you look taller than you actually are.

.

 Hair style

.Try to wear your hair in the way it makes you appear taller. A hair style for you should be thin at the sides and higher up at the top, which can make you look as much as an inch taller. Do not have any wide hair style.

.

Outfit

.Beware of clothes with horizontal lines. Avoid clothes with a tartan or checked pattern.

Instead select clothes with vertical lines or striping. It can be thin stripes, visible seams, interesting buttons,
contrasting ties.  Vertical lines or stripping make a person appear thinner, and when you are thin you look taller.

Also avoid wearing baggy clothes, this will make you look not only shorter but also will add you a couple of kilos. Beware of garments that are made from heavy and bulky fabric. They add width and hence shorten the image visually. Chose skinny pants to make the legs look longer.

.

ShoesGYI0000720266.jpg

The best trick to look taller is to wear high heels. This will help you to increase visually the length of  your legs and to look not only taller but more attractive! But be careful: don’t wear high platform shoes or too high stilettos if you are short. It is not comfortable and looks ridicul0usly!

.

Color

It is important to choose a monochromatic palette when choosing clothes. For instance,  one color family from head to toe makes the eye and brain thinking “long and lean.” However, don’t make the mistake of going for all long pieces. Go for contrasting proportions. Mix a longer jacket with a shorter skirt, shorter jacket with pants, and try not to cut visually body into many parts, for instance, choose a long lean dress, or no-waist pants and skirts.

But the most important is to believe in yourself and to accept yourself the way you were born, no matter now tall you are! And remember, sometimes tall people also suffer from their height…

Splitting Nails Solution

May 24, 2009 by Katerina

Many women are plagued by fingernails that split and crack. What’s causing this? Like body shape, skin tone, and hair texture, our nails’ ability to grow is largely hereditary — so if your mom had weak nails, you’re likely to have them, too. That said, there are things you can do to avoid much of the splitting:

,
nailsProtect your nails from water. Keep your hands out of water, since it can actually dry out nails, causing them to split. Be sure to wear gloves when doing dishes or cleaning.
Apply hand cream religiously. Look for a rich formula, which will seal moisture into nails, making them stronger and more flexible. And be sure to slather on cream every time you wash your hands.

.
Limit use of nail polish remover. It contains alcohol and other chemicals which make nails brittle. Use remover no more than once a week.
Buff instead of polish. Nail polish can have a drying effect on weak nails. To get a shiny, polished effect, try a buffer. The friction it creates actually stimulates nail growth.

/
Keep nail length manageable. Go for no more than a quarter-inch beyond the tip of your finger, and keep nails filed into resilient soft ovals.
If you try the above with no success, consult a dermatologist.

Dry Skin Care – Part II

May 12, 2009 by Katerina

Reduce how often you bath or shower, using lukewarm water. Showers are better than baths. Each day when you take your bath or shower, try to use lukewarm water. Hot water dries out the skin. Try to limit your time to fifteen minutes or less in the bath or shower. Bathing should be done no more than once a day. If you bathe too frequently you will remove the natural oils from the skin causing dryness. In the morning, just splash cool water or use a moisturizing toner and apply moisturizer. Because cleansers can strip away sebum and natural moisturizing factors from your skin, washing at night gives your skin time to replenish itself, before you need to face outside elements. Morning scrubs don’t give your dry skin time to recover its defenses before you go outside. Use mineral water to freshen your face. Don’t use a washcloth-a rough texture can irritate. In the morning, apply a spray of mineral water on your skin misted on with a plant sprayer. (Do not use a sprayer that had been used for spraying insecticides.) Lightly pat dry.

,

skin-2Do not over-indulge in sunbathing. Excessive exposure to sun rays can cause dry skin, wrinkles and skin cancer. All areas that are exposed to the sun, such as the face, ears, hands, and back of the neck should have a moisturizer containing sun block or a sunscreen of SPF 15 or greater applied daily. As much as possible, stay out of the sun. The sun is responsible for most of the damage done to the skin. It causes dryness, wrinkles, and even rashes and blisters. Always apply a good sunscreen to all exposed areas of skin if you must be in the sun.

,

Those with dry skin should stay away from deodorant or antibacterial soaps, since they can be drying to the skin.  If the odor-fighting capabilities of these soaps are desirable, then it is recommended that they be used only on areas such as the armpits, etc…Cleansing creams and lotions are the most useful for particularly dry or sensitive skin. They leave behind a layer of oil that helps lubricate the skin much as moisturizers do, but they are only moderately effective at cleansing the skin. Mildly moisturizing soaps are probably the most useful for general use since they clean adequately without stripping the skin of it’s natural oils.

,

Always rinse and dry hands carefully, particularly after contact with household products. Chapped and irritated dry skin on the hands is a common problem for people with dry skin. Try rubber gloves to protect them from hot water and detergents. If you are allergy-prone, wear a cotton pair underneath. You could develop contact dermatitis from the rubber in the gloves. Wear PVC waterproof gloves to avoid contact with detergents and other household irritants, or wear thin cotton gloves underneath waterproof gloves. Do not wear the gloves for long periods of time. Cotton gloves are useful for dirty work. Wash cotton gloves frequently. Avoid using fabric softeners, especially in the dryer. Keep irritating fabrics away from your skin. Don’t wear clothing made of wool or other “scratchy” fabrics. Use cotton percale sheets on your bed.

,

Extreme weather conditions exacerbate and cause dry skin. – hot and sunny, cold and windy. At Home, do not set your central heating too high – hot air can be detrimental. Use a simple humidifier – a bowl of water beside a radiator is sufficient. Wear cloves in cold weather. Use a humidifier in your home during the central heating season. If sweating causes itching, modify your activity and surroundings to minimize sweating. Work and sleep in a fairly constant temperature (68-75o F) and humidity (45-55%). Remember to keep drinking plenty of water and other liquids to keep your skin moist from the inside, too.

,

Do not smoke. Smoking has a harmful effect on the skin for several reasons. Nicotine constricts the blood vessels, including the tiny capillaries that serve the skin. This deprives the skin of the oxygen and nutrients it needs for good health. Smoking also can make the skin dry and leathery.

Dry Skin Care – Part I

May 10, 2009 by Katerina

Dry skin is common; as skin loses moisture it cracks. The inherited form of dry skin is known as ichthyosis. Dermatologists often call dry skin in later life xerosis or asteatosis. Dry skin looks dry, sometimes flakes, and often feels tight, especially if you have washed it with soap and water. Sometimes it is lacking some of the protective sebum and so it reacts to very hot and very cold weather by tightening up. Dry skin most often occurs on the shins, hands and sides of the abdomen. It is more common during the winter months, when humidity is low. Some people also have a genetic, or hereditary, tendency to develop dry skin. In addition, elderly people tend to have more trouble with dry skin due to the natural changes in skin that occur with age.

.

skin-1One of the best and most effective things you can do to help dry skin is to moisturize your dry skin. Moisturizers are a very important part of dermatology since keeping the skin moist is one of the key factors in healthy skin. Most moisturizers available are composed of some formulation of oil and water, with added ingredients that may or may not help to combat dry skin. However, moisturizers are only capable of keeping moisture from escaping out of the skin, not putting moisture back into the skin.

.

Make sure you choose a product specifically for dry skin and apply as directed. For moisturizers that work by trapping moisture in the skin, the most effective available is petrolatum or vaseline, which provides a coating over the skin through which water cannot escape. Unfortunately, because it is greasy, not many people like to use it. Ointments are usually like petrolatum, since most have an oily base. They are also very greasy and are usually used at bedtime rather than during the day. Moisturizing creams contain more oil than water and, as a result, are also very effective. These also may feel a little greasy, but less so than ointments or petrolatum. Lotions are the most popular moisturizer because the absorb quickly, but because they contain more water than oil, they are not as effective. Moisturizers are now adding other ingredients to help add to their moisturizing capabilities. Humectants are a class of moisturizers which do not contain oil and may be classified as oil-free. These contain glycerin, propylene glycol, urea, hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid. Humectants work by drawing moisture out of the air and trapping it next to the skin. These are especially effective in more humid climates.

.

Exfoliants such as alpha hydroxy acids actually improve the skin’s ability to retain moisture by getting read of dead, dry skin. Dead, dry skin cells can add to the problem because these dead skin cells alllow water to escape through their cracks. Alpha hydroxy acids help the skin shed these skin cells and replace those skin cells with healthy cells that are able to creat a more effective water barrier. Very dry skin often lacks the lipids found in healthy, young skin. These lipids help the skin keep moisture in the skin and keep it well hydrated. Without these lipids, water escapes easily and skin is left even more dry and cracked. If your skin is extremely dry, a lipid-replacement moisturizer will be the most helpful. Many moisturizers are now adding the lipids into their formulas in order to restore lipids where they might be lacking in the skin. Lipids are located in the outer layer of the skin and work by trapping water within the skin. When the lipid content is reduced, water in the skin evaporates quickly, resulting in dry skin. Use of lipid products can help restore the lipid content in the skin, allowing the skin to retain water naturally.

.

Be diligent, develop a routine, make it a priority. Apply a touch of your natural moisturizer over the freshly cleansed, toned, and dampened skin on your throat, cheeks, and around your eyes. Men should follow a two-step process. Apply moisturizer immediately after shaving. Wait ten minutes. Then moisturize again. It is very important if you have dry skin to have a skin care regimen that you follow daily. You should have a good nighttime moisturizer as well as a good day time moisturizer. After you clean and tone your skin, apply a splash of water or a water-misting. Pat almost dry with a soft towel, then smooth moisturizer from bosom to hairline. Allow five minutes for immediate absorption (cover your face and throat with warm washcloths to hasten penetration), then blot off any excess moisturizer with a tissue. Men can skip the toner but should moisturize the delicate skin around the eye area.

Every day, women are exposed to chemicals in cosmetics, household cleaners, plastics, food, water and many other sources. Common household chemicals have been linked to more than 200 health problems including asthma, depression, anxiety, various cancers (including breast, ovarian and brain), birth defects and developmental disabilities, as well as reproductive, cardiovascular and immune system disorders. Many of these chemicals are stored in our bodies and accumulate over time to cause health problems after years of gradual exposure.

The bad news: women are exposed to a far greater number of harmful chemicals than men . In general, women use more personal care products (such as makeup, perfume, nail care and hair care products), do most of the household cleaning (still!), eat more foods with artificial sweeteners, handle more indoor pesticides (e.g., bug sprays), sprinkle more carpet freshener, and burn more scented candles than men. For these reasons, women are at higher risk for health problems due to long-term, low-level exposure to harmful household chemicals. Although women are at higher risk than men, the group with the highest risk of all is young children. The liver is the main organ that removes toxins from the body and until two years of age, babies’ livers are underdeveloped and not fully capable of removing harmful chemicals from their bodies.

organic-lipstickThe good news: most household chemical exposure is preventable . By altering your practices, you can decrease exposure to household chemicals. By reducing your family’s daily chemical exposure, you can reduce the chances of developing illnesses such as cancer, anxiety, respiratory problems, and even heart disease and stroke attributed to low-level exposure during a long period.

Reducing exposure is not as difficult as you may think. Once you learn about the safe, natural alternatives for the chemical-containing products in your home, it’s simply a matter of learning which products and ingredients to choose and which to avoid. For personal care, cleaning products and pesticides, it means learning about the ingredients listed on the product labels. Here are some tips to help you do that.

.

In choosing cosmetics and household cleaners, AVOID or MINIMIZE the following:
