by Katerina
Simply put ‘natural skin care’ is giving care to your skin in a natural and chemical-free way. ‘Natural skin care’ advocates enabling the skin to take care of itself (without any help from synthetic materials/ chemicals). ‘Natural skin care’ is about instilling of good habits in the way you lead your day to day life. A lot of natural skin care measures are really the same as those for body care.
So let’s see what these natural skin care measures are.
- All right the first and the best natural skin care measure is – ‘Drink a lot of water’. More or less 8 glasses of water is a essential everyday. Water assists in flushing out the toxins from the body, in a natural way. It aids in the overall care of the body and promotes good health for all organs (not just skin).
- General cleanliness is additional affordable way of natural skin care. Regular shower, wearing clean clothes and sleeping on a clean mattress/pillow are all part of general cleanliness. After all, clean skin is the key to keeping the skin problem at bay.
- Regular work out is the next thing on the cards. Exercise increases the flow of blood that helps in doing away with body toxins and keeping you fit. Exercise as well helps in beating stress which is one of the worst enemies of good health.
- Healthy nutrient and eating habits are as well recommended for natural skin care. A few types of foods (e.g. oily food) are know to cause acne and should be avoided as much as possible. Your diet should be a healthy blend of assorted nutritious supplying foods. Raw fruits and vegetables are best-known to provide freshness to your body and assist in getting rid of body toxins.
- A good night sleep is as well helpful in maintaining good health and in beating stress. As a natural skin care measure, a good sleep delays slacking of skin.
- Beating stress is another natural skin care therapy. Stress efforts overall harm to body and health. Drinking a lot of water, getting a sound sleep and exercise has already been mentioned as stress busters. Pampering in a warm bubble bath, listening to music and playing your favourite sport are also beneficial ways of beating stress. Yoga is even another way of beating stress; it is fast gaining popularity among the masses.
- Avoiding excessive exposure to sun (by wearing long sleeved clothes, hat and umbrella etc), is another natural skin care strategy. Sunscreen lotions are also recommended as essential.
- Several traditional and home made natural skin care products/ measures are also known to be really effective. These measures are not only natural and easy-to-follow, but also relatively affordable.
Besides that, a lot of natural skin care products are available in the commercial market. These include things like lavender oil, aloe vera etc., which don’t have any side effects.

January 27, 2009 by Redcat
Every celebration is a special event. Every time we are looking for the best dress, hair and makeup. Often the most difficult task is to choose birthday gift. The special thing about birthdays is that they only come once a year. The challenging thing about birthdays is that they can be time consuming and expensive. So let’s learn how to choose a birthday present without loosing our precious time and money.
Know the person. In order to choose the right birthday gift, you really need to know the person that will be celebrating. The longer you know someone the more you know about that person. This is vital for choosing the perfect birthday gift for him or her. Since we are talking about birthday gifts, we have to consider the age of the person as well. We obviously want to give a gift that is age appropriate.
Not every person has the same tastes. Some people may love wine and gourmet cheeses, while others enjoy beer and sloppy cheeseburgers. Unless you know that, you’re really guessing. Try to get an idea of the kind of things they like and what they do in their everyday lives in order to know what they would probably like as a birthday gift. This is a great way to narrow down the gift selection.
What person don’t like. Also knowing what they don’t like can be a great start. If they love dogs, it’s useless to buy them a toy cat. If they are allergic to cheese, it wouldn’t be nice to give them some cheddar cheese as a gift. Make sure your friends won’t be unhappy with your gift. For instance, if your friend is a of a particular nationality, and you give him/her a joke book on that nationality, he or she probably won’t like it very much.
What person do like. Before creating gift ideas check the following things about a person. Married or single, with or without children, has or has no pets, extreme sports or relaxing hobbies, noisy parties or family evenings. Once you know what the person actually likes, you can then start planning what gift they will truly appreciate. A good idea is to choose a birthday gift that will enhance one of their hobbies or favourite activities that reflects their personality.
Make a budget. The older and closer you are to a person that will be celebrating, the more expensive should be a gift. That doesn’t mean that you have to buy your close friend a car. It means that if you aren’t that good friends, you don’t need to buy him/her such a costly present.
Sometimes you cannot spend a lot on presents. Either your budget isn’t that big or all your friends were born at the same month. The following tips will help you to come up with a great gift and at the same time to save money.
· Fortunately, today discount stores have a variety of brand name items, from colognes and perfumes, to ties and cufflinks. A small brand name gift is always nice.
· Remember that many popular stores have outlets that sell items well beneath the retail prices.
· Paperback books are always less expensive than hardcover books. The best choice is a book by the person’s favourite author or by the person’s favourite genre.
· Scented or unscented pre-wrapped votive candles and one votive candle holder placed in a gift bag become a great birthday present. Get creative by choosing different fragrances.
· Favourite candies, balloons and flowers are good additions to any present. They make people smile and think about happy moments.
Wrap your present. The wrapping creates the first impression about you and your present. It should match the present that is inside. It is a kind of art. So be an artist and make it as unique as attractive.
Include a card. The goal of a card is to inform who is a giver and to make present more personal. Choose a nice card and write down several pleasant words about how much you appreciate your friend. As an alternative you may choose a funny card. They always put a smile on your friend’s face. Another safe bet is choosing a birthday card that makes noise or plays music. But don’t forget to write down several words from your heart. Sometimes cards are more meaningful than the actual gift.
Be careful and don’t forget about your friend’s interests, because people do try to buy others what they would like, instead of what the person likes. As long as you are concentrating on the receiver and not ‘just’ the gift itself, you can’t go far wrong. Good luck!

1. How to plan?
Plan ahead. Make a point to go through your closet at the beginning of every season. Think about color matching and creating great outfits. Before shopping check your closet and make a mental note of what you have. Think about what you need to update your items or complement them. This can help focus your attention and keep you on task
Set a budget. Knowing how much you can pay for an item will help you sort through the racks quicker.
2. When to shop?
Don’t shop under pressure. If you have to shop at weekends then try to get there early, before the crowds. Don’t shop during busy times (Christmas sales, etc.).
Don’t shop on a “bad” day. Don’t shop on those days when you are feeling unattractive. You may end up making the wrong choice of outfit, wanting to hide your body rather than draw attention to it.
Start early. For special occasions allow you at least two weeks prior to the event to find the dress. Try to wear or bring undergarments (strapless bra, shoes, if you have them already) to go with the style. You’ll need extra time for shoes and accessories.
3. How to dress?
Dress for shopping. Wear easy on/off clothes. Nothing is worse then fighting with tight fitting fiddly clothing, making you all hot and bothered. This also applied to shoes and coats. Styled hair and makeup will make looking at you in the dressing room mirror just that much easier.
4. Whom to take?
Shop by yourself. If you really need a second opinion, put the item on hold and get back with someone later. Alternatively take a friend whose honest opinion you value and whom you can rely on to give sound style advice.
Don’t shop with a competitive friend because she will cajole you into buying more and possibly unflattering items weather or not you need it.
5. How to shop?
Avoid sales. It’s not a bargain — even at 90% off — unless you actually have some way to work it into your existing wardrobe. It is a waste of money and closet space. You may blow your budget unless you stay on task. Ask yourself, would I still want to buy this if it wasn’t reduced?
Be active. Avoid aimlessly wandering around the shops buying up bits and pieces. Accept a salesperson’s help. You may be surprised by how much time you’ll save if you’ll give them some direction about what you’re shopping for.
6. How to choose?
Make an accent. Decide which parts of your body are considered assets and play on those by buying cuts and colors which accentuate them. These are those parts of your body that people normally compliment you on. Don’t be a slave to fashion trends, buy what suits you.
Try it on. Walk and sit in the clothes. Think about zippers and buttons functioning.
Be honest. Don’t talk yourself into an outfit that isn’t flattering to your frame. There are only two kinds of clothes in this world. Clothes that flatter you and clothes that doesn’t.
Get a round look. Get an honest look at your rear and side views. Never buy anything that doesn’t fit perfectly. The only exceptions are pants or skirts that can be easily altered for length at the hem.
Find new styles. Try on some styles, colors and patterns which you would not normally wear. You can never be sure without trying on. Your attempts may be rewarded with a great result.
Check the care tags. See how much care the item is going to require.
7. How to spend?
Pay with cash. Paying with cash will keep you from debts and save your budget. If it is a more expensive piece than you can normally afford, then it’s time to think about it (especially if it is going to spend more time in your wardrobe than out of it).
Check the return policy. Many stores have marks which mean you can’t bring items back at all.
Spend money on staples. Bags, a cashmere sweater and a black pair of pants are timeless. Shoes also can be costly, because great shoes can make or break an outfit.

Being a window to the world your eyes allow you to see its beauty and variety. So it is absolutely necessary to look after your eyes and treat them with care.
Saving you from many things, your eyelids get tired and nerves get exhausted. You can show your eyes appreciation and keep them healthy and relaxed by doing simple but useful exercises.
This will improve the movement of eye muscles and will surely boost your eye sights.
Before starting the exercises be aware about certain tactics. Begin by sitting in the comfortable chair and then rub your palms together until they become warm. While you are doing exercises think about something nice you wish to do or you did.
- Move your eye balls to the far right and then left. Repeat the exercise four-five times. Blink quickly few times.
- Move your eye balls up as far as you can and then down. Repeat the exercise four-five times. Blink quickly few times.
- See the right corner of your eyes when you raise them, then see the left corner of the eyes when you lower them, half closing the lids. Blink several times. Repeat exercise three in reverse.
- Clock rotation: Roll your eyes clockwise, begin by focusing on the floor, then moving slowly from left to the ceiling. Then lower down from right, back to the floor. Repeat the same exercise anti-clock wise. Blink few times.
- Flicker both eyes simultaneously and speedily. Repeat flickering after closing the eyes for some time. Repeat this process ten times.
- Take the exact point and keep your eyes straight, bring the point near your eyes slowly and then retreat it. Do this exercise for several times at one go and in a day do this for five times.
- Press three fingers of both the hands against your upper eyelids and hold there for one to two seconds and then release. Do this same for your lower lids as well.
- Tight shut: Close your eyes as tightly as possible. Squeezing the eyes make the eye muscle contract and soothes them after the strain of eye exercise. This also exercises the muscles of the face.
- Once again rub your palms together and place them over your closed eyes. Only apply pressure around the eye socket. The elbows should rest on table or knees. Breathe deeply. Do it for thirty seconds.
Open the eyes slowly, smile and you will feel fresh and energetic.

Home Gym Buying Advice
.
So you are thinking about buying home gym? There are several issues you should think about.
.
- First of all, will you really use the equipment once you’ve bought it? Of course, your intentions might be the best, but having another space consuming dust collector in your apartment is not what you would like to have, right?
- Find the home gym that you will enjoy and feel motivated to use. The equipment should better be adjusted to different levels of fitness as you progress.
- Buy a quality barbell & Power Rack. You don’t want accidents when lifting weights overhead, on your back, above your chest. Pay a little more for quality. You only buy equipment once.
- Make sure you have sufficient space for the equipment you intend to buy – low ceilings may get in the way of weights.
The benefits of a home gym
- Home gyms generally concentrate on resistance work to build muscle (for men) and tone muscle (for women). Women should not fear developing huge muscles by doing weight training / resistance work as this is unlikely to occur – the male hormone testosterone is necessary to build big muscles. Ladies develop nicely toned muscles.
- Weight training reduces the risk of osteoporosis – brittle bone disease.
- When you gain muscle tone, your basal metabolic rate increases – ie you burn more calories even whilst sleeping as it takes more energy to maintain a blood supply to muscle than it does to fat.
- You will be able to tone all body areas including arms, chest, shoulders, legs, back and stomach.
- You will be able to exercise at a time to suit you. It’s particularly useful if you are restricted to the home or do not want to exercise in front of other people.
- Besides, more comfort, you cut expenses. One investment that would last for long time. And if you ever quit strength training, you can always sell your home gym equipment.
- You’ll win more time. No time lost waiting for the squat rack or bench. No time lost waiting in the showers. No time lost driving to the gym & back. Weekends, holidays & working shifts are no more a problem. You workout when & how you want.
Downside of building your home gym
- It’s an initial investment, you need space & you’ll have to motivate yourself.

Choosing Towels
Towels are available in a vast range of fabrics, weights, styles and finishes, and it can be difficult to know which to buy.
Size
Towels are available in a range of sizes, but these are not standardised, so a bath sheet from one store may be a different size to another found in a different store. There’s nothing worse than a towel that’s too small. Average towels are 27 x 50 inches to 30x 56 inches. Oversize bath towels come in at 30 x 56 inces, Bath sheets are a whopping 33 x 66 inches to 40 x 70 inches.
Color
Choose a color when considering your towels but try to be flexible. After weighing the other key factors, you may find that your favorite color isn’t available in the type of towel you wish to purchase. Go for a neutral or complimentary color instead.
Other Factors
Other factors to consider when choosing, apart from weight, include:
- Absorbency – the absorbency is dependent upon the material from which it is made, and the number and length of the loops across its surface. Towels with longer loops will most likely be heavier (and have a higher gsm).
- Softness
- Longevity
- Material – towels are available in a number of materials now, in addition to the traditional 100% cotton. These other materials include modal, linen and microfibre. My preference would be to stick with the traditional 100% cotton fabric. Know your fabric and choose for absorbency and feel. Cotton reigns supreme for absorbency and durability with Egyptian and Supima cotton representing the top of the line. Fine quality bath towels with silk included in the weave can add softness without compromising absorbency.

Whether you are just starting out in this world and need to put a foundation wardrobe in place or if you are giving your wardrobe a refresher here are some wardrobe ideas to help you get started.
Pick one solid color as your foundation neutral. Black, navy, or camel are traditional standbys, but you could use burgundy, khaki or plum. This must be a color that you love, and one that flatters your skin tones. Keeping that in mind, now go shopping!
1. Dress
The dress must be in your chosen solid color, have very simple lines, and be able to be worn through several seasons. It can have a waistline or not, sleeves or not, a plain neckline or a collar, and the length is up to you. For very casual lifestyles, a knit T-shirt dress is fine. For a more professional look choose body-skimming princess seams or an a-line shape.
The classical choice is the basic black dress. It is often called the “Little Black Dress”, and it’s true that shorter skirts on the basic black dress, when they hit you in the right place, can be more flattering than a long black dress.
2. Jacket or cardigan
In that foundation neutral color, buy a jacket or cardigan sweater that fits well over the dress. While choosing jacket look for a length that comes at least to the waist, and avoid trim that “has” to go only with that dress. A jacket does not have to be masculine. Find one with a proper, fitted shape. Women’s jackets should follow the silhouette of a woman’s body and accent the hourglass curve at her waist. It is also a perfect piece to put with the skirt or dress pants, and white shirt. Or make it casual with a pair of jeans.
Classical choice is a tailored jacket that matches your black pants or/ and a sporty leather jacket.
3. Two-piece outfit
Buy a two-piece outfit, also in your foundation neutral. Find a comfortable material that you would want to wear every day. If you are building a business wardrobe, make this a two-piece dress. It could be a flowing skirt and over blouse, or a tailored skirt and shirt that look like a shirtwaist when worn together, whichever suits your personality and body the best. Top and bottom need to be in the same fabric.
For a casual lifestyle, you might choose pull-on jersey pants and a full cut shirt that could be worn either tucked in or left out and unbuttoned as an overskirt.
Whatever you choose for this outfit, it can be worn under the jacket you got when you got that basic dress.
The alternative is the classic white shirt. But it can also come in many different styles to make it look trendy and not dated or like a man’s piece of clothing. Find one that accentuates your best attributes and minimizes trouble spots. For example, if you have wide shoulders, stay away from large collars. Looking thin in white doesn’t have to be difficult. Choose a slim-fit T-shirt that skims over your body (but doesn’t cling).
4. Two-piece print outfit
The next thing to find is a two-piece print outfit. The print must have an ample amount of your foundation neutral and as many other colors as you like. It can be soft or flamboyant, stripes or floral, paisley or plaid. Choose carefully because it will set the tone for the rest of your wardrobe.
This choice might have slacks instead of a skirt, but, again, the top and bottom need to be in the same fabric. You can wear these pieces together, as separates with your other two-piece outfit, and with your jacket. It doesn’t have to be exactly the same cut as your foundation two-piece outfit, but you need to be able to wear both bottoms with both tops.
Now, choose a second solid color from your print. This color should co-ordinate with your foundation neutral, for instance grey if you have chosen black as your neutral, or perhaps chocolate or rust if you have chosen camel.
5. Blazer or cardigan sweater and slacks or skirt
Add a blazer or a cardigan sweater in the second color, and a pair of slacks or another skirt. These two items should look good together, but not match exactly. A change in texture from your first two choices, perhaps a wool or linen blend, will add some interest here; these pieces can be worn with your print pieces and with your other solid pieces.
6. Top
Now, add two or three tops in any solid color from your print, in any style and fabric that you like. They could be button-down tailored, turtleneck, scoop neck t-shirts, or dressy knits. Whatever you choose, they can be worn with everything else you’ve chosen so far.
In case you’re not sure about color and fabric you may choose next three pieces. A lightweight, merino or cashmere fabrics are always good. One can be black or your chosen solid color. The second one can be more neutral like off-white, camel or taupe. The third top or sweater can just simple be a top/ sweater that you love and feel great in. Nothing too dressy – one you can wear to the office and with jeans.
There is also another kind of top, so called the “Any Occasion Top”. Find something you look great in that can look respectable under a jacket but bring on the fun after hours.
7. Skirt or slacks
Now, add a couple bottoms (skirts or slacks, whatever you need) in a “semi-pattern” such as tweed or in solid color from your print outfit.
A skirt is more preferable, because it is womanly and can be flirty or businesslike. There are two classical kinds of skirts. Pencil skirts which can make your hips do a disappearing act and an A-line skirt which incidentally looks good on all body types.
These can be worn with every shirt and jacket you’ve chosen so far–your print top, any of the solid color tops, your dressy jacket, your blazer or cardigan choices. Your foundation neutral is what holds it all together.
8. Jeans
Everyone has a pair of jeans, but does everyone have a pair of jeans that make them look great? The wider leg, low-rise jean style has been popular (and still is) but a narrower leg is coming back along with a higher waist, which eliminates the unflattering “muffin top” look. The best choice is stretch denim with no more than 2 percent Lycra (the fabric will follow your curves and keep its shape). You may have even two pairs of jeans – one hemmed for heels and the other hemmed for flats. Jeans that are hemmed for heels you should see just the toe box.
9. Trench Coat
The trench coat is one of the pieces that is both classic and currently a hot fashion item. Most any store sells this piece now. It is great for fall and you can pick it up in a wide range of lengths. You may have several coats. A classic trench coat or raincoat with a zip -out wool liner is good for multiple seasons. A knee-length transition coat can work for day and night. Try a winter coat in a wool or cashmere blend or if you live in a warmer climate try tropical wool.
10. Bag
A classic leather style with clean lines works for everything. A catch all fun tote bag can be worn with jeans. An envelope shaped bracelet style is great for the evening.
11. Shoes
Depending on climate you live in you may have next pairs of shoes:
• A pair of black pumps 2.5-3.5 inch heel in a current style.
• An evening shoe with a close toe in a black satin.
• A pair of tall black boots
• Bad-weather boots
• A pair of sneakers or tennis shoes.
What you have if you’ve followed these guidelines is a dress, a jacket, and a two-piece outfit in your foundation color; a two-piece outfit in a print that sets the tone for your wardrobe and co-ordinates with everything else; a blazer or sweater and a pair of slacks or skirt in a second solid color and interesting texture; jeans; and a few solid color tops and bottoms that can be worn with everything else. You also have a trench coat, several bags and shoes. This selection can be mixed in dozens of different combinations, dressed up or down with accessories and jewellery.
To build from here, you can choose other print pieces that will go with your solids. Or, you can begin again with all new colors. Chances are, you’ll find that if you choose colors you love and styles that work well, pieces from your “second” wardrobe will go with a lot of that from your first one. Happy dressing!

Start with the butt
Your bottom and hips will always look thinner when you are dressed in a solid colour and it doesn’t even have to be black. It can be a beautiful incandescent hot pink if you like. But remember that solids tend to slim where other patterns don’t. Now a lot of us don’t go around wearing patterned pants but a lot of us wear patterned dresses and skirts – so be warned.
Small bust
If you are small busted then try for some wrap shirts, which will give you the illusion of a bigger bust and smaller waist.
Big bust
Avoid lighter colours on top for they will over-emphasize your bust size and go for a geometric-shaped top with a slim pant and you will have a more balanced look.
Big hips
Go for some flat front pants, which are always a winner.
Don’t be afraid to go for a black pencil skirt with black hose. It will make your hips do a disappearing act.
De-emphasize your waist
If you are trying to deemphasize your waist and or your middle then avoid crop jackets because they break up your natural lines rather then help you create long, lean lines.
Try a slightly raised waist that tends to make the torso look narrower and a flared skirt which also makes the waist look narrower.
Unless you are a super model avoid horizontal stripes.
Only buy a pleated skirt if the pleats are stitched down and don’t bunch up at the waist adding thickness.

Skiwear Buying Guide
Care to choose quality skiwear when going to ski, as you will need to be protected from the cold and wind. When choosing ski wear, you should look for the following features:
- Go for fabrics that are waterproof but offer ventilation – well designed ski jackets, salopettes and ski suits retain bodyheat and defend you from the elements, whilst allowing water vapour to escape. If wind or water are allowed to penetrate you will get cold, but without ventilation, your perspiration cannot evaporate.
- Lots of pockets – you will need places to store your ski-pass (some jackets and suits have special attachments for ski passes), your money and your apartment keys.
- Layer your clothing for optimal warmth and dryness. Layering systems incorporate three layers which include the base layer, middle layer and outer layer.
- The base layer should keep you dry – avoid cotton because cotton retains perspiration, choosing instead fabrics such as silk or synthetic, purpose designed polyester fabrics eg CoolMax, which disperse moisture to the outer surface. The base layer may consist of thermal underwear.
- The middle layer is the insulating layer which will help retain heat. Polyester fleeces are ideal for this, well known brands include Thinsulate and Polartec. Fleece is good because it is lightweight and breathable, yet retains heat well for its weight. It also dries out quickly.
- The outer layer should protect you from snow, rain and the wind. It should retain your body heat whilst allowing perspiration to evaporate. If the outer layer is not properly ventilated, your persiration will condense on the inside of your jacket. The outer layer should also be roomy enough to accommodate the other layers and not restrict your movement.
- Look out for reinforced knees and elbows, zipper flaps and sealed seams.
Headgear
Children should wear helmets to give them enhanced protection if should they fall, and it’s not a bad idea for adults to wear them too. If helmets are not worn, hats at least should be worn as 33% of a person’s body heat escapes through the head.
Gloves
Specialist gloves are essential for keeping your hands warm and they offer protection in the case of a fall. They should be waterproof, with added grips for holding onto skis or lifts. Frostbite can result if inadequate gloves are worn (eg thin wool gloves that become wet from the snow).
Goggles and Sunglasses
It is essential to have adequate eye protection. This is because the sun is reflected off the bright white snow, making the ultra violet light harmful to your eyes. Goggles are a better choice than sunglasses because they are more securely attached to your head and offer better visibility and eye protection.
Whether you choose goggles or sunglasses, make sure they have full Ultra Violet (UV) protection.
